McNaughton, Wisconsin — Hansen’s farm — Spider Lake Road
Next to the Hansen’s house was a large tree with a few feeders hanging from the branches. These two docile birds spent some time eating at the feeders, some time feeding on the ground, and a lot of time sitting in the tree looking around. They were very large gray finches with white wing-bars and long tails. Their heads and rumps were red/orange.
