Des Plaines, Illinois — Oakton Community College — Des Plaines River

I spent the morning at Waukegan Beach.  I stopped on the way home at my old birding grounds on the Oakton College campus.  I used to cut classes and wander down the trail along the muddy Des Plaines River.  I never had much luck when I was going to school there, so I’m not sure what caused me to stop this day.  But it paid off.

The Yellow-throated Vireo was foraging slowly, branch to branch, near the top of a tall tree in the woods along the river.
