Notes:Matthew Hervey is on vacation in Italy with his sister, Elizabeth. They meet and befriend the poet, Shelley and his wife. Then Hervey decides to rejoin the cavalry. He raises a troop and trains them before embarking to India where they are sent to make a preemptive strike against a large Burmese army preparing to invade British territory. Hervey's strategy of taking horses and cannons into the jungle surprises the enemy and forces them into retreat.

Review - A Call to Arms

It had been too long since I'd read the first three books in the series, so I had a tough time following much of the continuity. This book was something of a reboot, and most of it was taken up with getting Hervey back in the army and ready to fight as he gets over the death of his wife in the previous book. It moved very slowly and jumped around in time a lot.
