It’s a cushy job, but somebody has to do it. My work sent me to Asheville, North Carolina with a couple of coworkers to visit a company that manufactured embroidered patches. They put us up at the Grove Park Inn, a huge hotel located in the hills outside of town.
The main inn was built in 1913. Six presidents and a bunch of other famous people have visited. The Grove Park Inn is very proud of this and offers a self-guided tour complete with a list of these people. They include:
Presidents
- Dwight D. and Mamie Eisenhower (1947)
- William Howard Taft (1929)
- Franklin D. and Eleanor Roosevelt (1936)
- Woodrow Wilson (multiple visits)
- Herbert and Lou Hoover (multiple visits)
- Calvin and Grace Coolidge (1921)
Other Famous People
- Will Rogers
- Wiley Post
- Dr. John Harvey Kellogg
- Charles and William Mayo
- Art Linkletter
- Bill Tilden
- Bobby Jones
- Norman Vincent Peale
- Sandra Day O’Connor
- Mikhail Baryshnikov
- William Jennings Bryan
- F. Scott Fitzgerald
- Dinah Shore
- Gutzon Borglum
- Enrico Caruso
- General John J. Pershing
- John D.Rockefeller
- Henry Ford
- Harvey Firestone
- Thomas Edison

We stayed for three nights. I wandered around the grounds and halls whenever I got a chance. It was very impressive, but I didn’t see anybody famous.
