It’s been raining hard almost every day for the past couple of weeks. The Fox River is at flood stage, basements are filling with water and grass is growing at an astonishing rate.
This afternoon, a massive thunderstorm ripped through the area — again. I was at work and, with the rest of the staff, spent a half hour in the basement during a tornado alert. My wife and daughter were out shopping at the time — it was raining hard where they were too. When they got home they discovered that our dog had, once again, locked herself in the upstairs bathroom.
She has done this six or seven times now, always when there’s a thunderstorm. The odd thing is, that bathroom is the only room in the house with a skylight. You’d think it would be the one room she’d want to stay out of.
Here’s a picture I took of her the other day. I went down to the basement and found her and our cat sitting on the rugs. They don’t normally get along, but on this occasion they’d evidently worked out some sort of arrangement.
