Walker Hill Cemetery

The family reunion was in Grand Tower, Illinois, because that’s where my wife’s great-grandmother Edith lived for many years. Sally remembers going there every summer with her family and staying in the old house, part of which was built with wood from an old river boat. Edith lived alone in this house well into her 90’s. She died in 1977 at the age of 94. The house is no longer there.

When we arrived on Sunday, Sally’s mom, Beverly, took us up the hill behind the town to the cemetery where Edith and her husband, Marion, are buried. Here’s Beverly at the family grave site.
