White Sox vs. Royals — May 27, 1987

Tim Sperry was in town for a visit. We went to a White Sox game with Jim Matheson and Dave Pearson. The drive down was fun. Jim drove his parents’ car. At 50 mph, it would rumble and strain, then suddenly kick into overdrive with a jump.

At the park it was “No Crowd Noise Night,” or it seemed like it. Jim, Dave and I sang along with the organ, yelled at the players and chanted “Harold, Harold” whenever Harold Baines came to bat. But for six innings, nobody else was making a bit of noise. The game was dull, but we had a great time. The White Sox won 3-2.
