Notes:Told in text and cartoons, SPRING-HEELED JACK is a thrilling adventure from Victorian England. The story begins on a moonless night in a gloomy section of London. Three innocent children have escaped from an orphanage. But danger lurks, for hiding in the shadows is Mack the Knife, the most evil villain in all London. Are the children doomed? It's Spring-Heeled Jack to the rescue.

Review - Spring-Heeled Jack

The writing is cute and clever, but the most distinctive feature of this book is the way the story is told with a mix of text and cartoons — like a mix of chapter book and comic book. I would have loved it when I was eight or ten.
