Review - Salmon of Doubt, The

Short Stories, speeches, articles, interviews and part of a Dirk Gently novel found on Adams' computer after he died. Several of the pieces center on Adams' vehement atheism, which was sad because he seemed like a really nice guy whom it would have been fun to know and because they struck me as a bit desperate, like a man trying very hard to convince himself of something he's not sure about. There were glimpses of Adams’ humor throughout.

Speaking of which, Adams’ humor perplexes me. It seems to pulsate, sometimes appearing strong and obvious and other times almost disappearing from view. There are parts of his books that I found hilarious the first time I read them. A few years later when I read them again, I couldn’t find anything funny at all. Then again, later, they were funny again. I can’t account for it.
