Review - Incidents of Travel in the Yucatan

I kept thinking it would be more interesting if it included more about the lives of the builders and inhabitants. But then I had to keep reminding myself that this was written in 1841 and that the author was the first educated person to explore and describe these sites. He made some guesses and mentioned the brief research done by others, but he didn't have all the information now existing (assuming there is any). Here and there, he included personal bits that made the read more than just a dry description of stone buildings.
