Notes:Mr. Sponge is a cad who manages to pass himself off as a gentleman. He travels about to hunts on a find horse that nobody else can handle. When others offer to buy the horse, Sponge sells it to them, then buys it back for considerably less when they can't handle it. Sponge also takes advantage of anyone who even hints at an invitation to stay with them, and then is very difficult to dislodge. All goes along in this manner until Sponge meets Lucy, an actress, and falls in love. They marry, and Sponge opens a betting parlor in London to earn a living.

Review - Mr. Sponge's Sporting Tour

Clever, although it often got bogged down in clever descriptions of characters who had nothing to do with the story, or with clothes. The language was so much of the time that the book was often hard to understand.
