Notes:Subtitle: What I Learned from a Remarkable Bird

Lightweight account of the author's experiences as a British teacher in Argentina. He found a Magellan Penguin covered in oil and decides to rescue it. After some initial hostility, the bird adopted him. He smuggled it back to his school and lived with it for quite a while, allowing it to run about on the rooftop patio outside his dorm.

Review - Penguin Lessons, The

The early chapters, where the author rescues the bird and then smuggles it into Argentina from Uruguay, were fun. After that, it was just a bunch of chapters about his life at school with the penguin and his travels around South America without it. Many of his sentences, and sometimes entire paragraphs are passive-voice, and there's tons of fillers to make enough copy for a book.
