Cormoran Strike is a private detective in London who lost part of a leg in Afghanistan. With considerable help from his temporary secretary, Robin, he investigates the supposed suicide of supermodel Lula Landry. His client is Lula's adoptive brother John. He discovers that John himself killed Lula because he found out she was intending to send her money to her real brother, a soldier in the British army. In the end, he hires Robin permanently.

It kept my interest pretty well. I liked the characters of Cormoran and Robin. In order, I guess, to portray the world of music and fashion, Rowling dropped far more F words than was remotely necessary, which got tremendously annoying.
