Ralph goes into the stock shipping business in Kansas and does well until a flood wipes out his stock. His partner defaults on a mortgage, so Ralph goes deeply into debt. He decides to work his way out of it instead of declaring bankruptcy, and with the help of friends becomes a butcher in addition to his stock trading. At the time he gets out of debt, he also discovers that he doesn't actually have diabetes, so he writes to his childhood sweetheart, moves to Kansas City, and gets married.

Review - Horse of a Different Color (8)

A lot of details about stock trading and butchering, but it moved quicker than the last book and the last couple chapters were good. I don't know of Moody was actually as hard-working as he claims, or if he really could excel at whatever he attempted like he does in the book, but it read impressive.
