Mike marries Kathy and takes her to remote posts in the Canadian wilderness. The deal with travel, winter, mosquitoes, forest fires, epidemics, and the birth—and then death—of two children. Kathy is depressed by the loss of her children and goes home to Boston, but soon realizes that she belongs with Mike and returns. When the flu hits, two mothers die and Mike and Kathy adopt their three children.

Review - Mrs. Mike

Told to the authors by Kathy Flannigan and billed as being loosely based on her life. But further investigation indicates that it's almost all made up. Still, it was an interesting story. I had to read it for school at some point, I can't remember when.
