Notes:Subtitle:A Two-Year Sage of Sinners and St. Paul Saints at the Bottom of the Bush Leagues with Bill Murray, Darryl Strawberry, Dakota Sadie and Me

Karlen, a writer for Rolling Stone spent two seasons with the Saints, intending to do a hatchet job about Bill Murray and Darryl Strawberry. But, or so he says, the atmosphere of the Saints restored his joy in life and he instead wrote this book, a disjointed, jumpy account of St. Paul, the minor leagues, and the players who are fighting for a chance.

Review - Slouching Toward Fargo

Karlen actually managed to make a book about a hilarious team into an over-long, self-indulgent bore. He repeats himself frequently, often within a paragraph or two, jumps from topic to topic so that I was often not even sure which season he was talking about, and tried to make the story of each person meaningful in sappy ways.
