He rejoined the army for a bit, returned to Italy, and found and married Wanda, the Slovene girl who helped him hide from the Nazis for a time. Newby also covers the birth of his first child and his father's dedication to rowing.

Review - Something Wholesale

Newby can take a topic I'm not remotely interested in and make it worth reading. It was odd the way the book jumped around from topic to topic, but the anecdotes were amusing and the writing was excellent.
