I quit reading about a quarter of the way though. Way too much repetition about Jack's struggles to write, about his failing marriage, about his alcoholism. And way too much nonsense about his five-year-old son Danny who has the gift of "shining" — seeing the future. It was sentences like this that made me give up: "The marriage he had almost totaled like a nutty kid behind the wheel of an old jalopy." What?
