Notes:Henry Higgins, a phonetician, accepts a bet that simply by changing the speech of a Cockney flower seller he will be able, in six months, to pass her off as a duchess. An apt, hardworking pupil, Eliza undergoes grueling training.

COMMENTS — Pygmalion was converted into the musical, My Fair Lady, and the movie of that name won numerous Academy Awards. But My Fair Lady takes several liberties with Shaw’s plot.
