Review - Pacifier, The

Howard Plummer has invented a devise that will wipe out a country’s ability to launch nuclear weapons. Navy Seal Shane Wolfe is sent to rescue him from kidnappers. But the mission is a failure. Plummer is killed and nobody knows where the devise is. Wolfe’s superior, Bill Fawcett, travels to Switzerland to see what is in Howard’s safety deposit box. He assigns Wolfe to babysit the five Plummer kids and look for the device around the house.

The kids are terrors. Oldest daughter Zoe is always trying to sneak off with her boyfriend. Seth keeps skipping wrestling practice and appears to be joining a Nazi gang. Lulu keeps bringing her girlscout troop over. Peter won’t go to bed until Wolfe sings the Peter Panda song and Tyler always needs a diaper change. Without going into the ridiculous details. Wolfe connects with each of the kids during the two weeks or so and solves all their problems while falling in love with Claire (ex-Navy officer and the school principal) and putting the evil wrestling coach in his place.

He also finds the devise in the garage. Fawcett returns and, with the help of the North Korean couple who live next door, overcomes Wolfe and tries to open the safe. The kids escape from the house and call the police. When the kids’ lives are at stake, Wolfe figures out the way through the security devices are hidden in Peter’s Panda song. But Claire shows up in time to help him overcome the bad guys and save the devise. Wolfe quits the Seals and becomes the new vice-principal and wrestling coach.

It was pretty silly, but harmless and occasionally cute.
