Description:Scat (Bing Crosby) and Hot Lips (Bob Hope) are vaudeville musicians who stow away on a boat to Rio when they get into money problems. On the boat they meet Lucia (Dorothy Lamour), a wealthy heiress. To get her money, her guardian is hypnotizing her to marry the guardian's brother. The bad guys have two goons who are constantly out to get the two friends. It all hinges on some mysterious papers (the contents of which we never learn). They manage to stop the wedding. In a twist, the girl ends up with Hope this time, but then we find out he's using hypnotism.

Review - Road to Rio

Some funny bits. Whenever the "papers' are mentioned, the person mentioning them slyly looks both ways before saying the word. There are a lot of inside jokes, and a funny scene where Hope's trumpet blows bubbles after a cleaning woman knocks it into a sudsy pail.
