Description:Duke (Bing Crosby) and Chester (Bob Hope) are two swindlers on the run from the law. Duke tricks Chester into going to Alaska to look for gold. They lose their money on the boat and have to work for their fare. They find a map to a gold mine in the cabin of two desparate criminals, Sperry and McGurk. They take the map, tie up the two men, and head into town disguised as the two bad guys.

Meanwhile, Sal (Dorothy Lamour) is headed to Alaska to try to recover the map which leads to the gold mind her father left her. She contacts Ace Larson, her father’s old partner, not realizing he’s a crook. Duke and Chester rip the map and each take half. Sal, Ace, and his girlfriend Kate follow the two men and try to get the map back. Meanwhile, the real Sperry and McGurk are also hot on the trail. There’s a long, silly dog sled chase, and both Duke and Chester fall in love with Sal. She falls in love with Duke, but a chasm opens up in a glacier and she’s left with Chester. Duke is left behind to face Ace and his men.

Years later (and this scene opens and closes the movie) Duke is an old man who comes to visit the elderly couple who live in splendor from their mine, but Duke is also living well and traveling with two young women.

Review - Road to Utopia

The plot is terribly silly, but there were a lot of laughs, especially since we were tired.
