Description:Fearless Frazier (Bob Hope) and Chuck Reardon (Bing Crosby) are trying to get rich as carnival side show stuntmen in Africa. When one of their stunts burns down a circus, they have to run. The bump into Julia (Una Merkel) who tells them her friend Donna (Dorothy Lamour) is being sold in the slave market. The boys buy her freedom (and find out later it was all a scam by the girls to get their money). Donna has a boyfriend on the other side of the continent, so she talks Fearless and Chuck into taking her there, supposedly to meet her father. When the boys find out they've been conned again, they send the girls away. On their own, the boys are captured by a tribe and almost eaten. When they finally get to Zanzibar, Chuck meets the girls and finds out Donna is really in love with him. But now the four of them have to find money to get back to the states, so they start a carnival side show.

Review - Road to Zanzibar

Slapstick humor, with Bing and Bob playing off each other and insulting each other and Lamour around to create romantic tension. It lacked some of the breaking of the fourth wall and reference to other movies that the later movies in the series had, but it was still mindless fun.
