Review - Rundown, The
Beck gets hired to retrieve things, but he’s tired of the business and wants to open a restaurant. His boss asks him to do one last job — retrieve his son Travis who is in Brazil. Beck finds Travis in El Dorado, a gold mine town run as a slave-labor prison by Hatcher. Beck makes a $10,000 deal with Hatcher to take Travis, but Hatcher changes his mind. Beck beats up Hatcher’s men and takes Travis anyway. But Travis has other plans. He wants to find a gold cat statue hidden in the jungle. He makes Beck swerve his jeep off a mountain and the two are stranded in the jungle. The get captured by rebels and Beck is forced to fight the whole gang — until Mariana shows up. She’s a bartender in Hatcher’s town, but she’s also a rebel leader. She wants the cat statue so she can sell it and help her people. She makes a deal. If Travis takes her to the statue, he can have half the money. And if Beck helps, he can have Travis and directions out of the jungle.
The three travel through the jungle and find the cat. Mariana drugs the two men with fruit and takes off with the cat, but not before showing Beck how to get home. She also promises Travis that she will send him the money. When the two men get to the airport, they find out that Mariana and the cat have been captured by Hatcher. The return and storm the village. Before their through, Hatcher and all his men are dead and Mariana and her people have their freedom and the cat. Beck takes Travis home and delivers him to his father for the money to open his restaurant. But then he gives the father and his men the same drugged fruit that Mariana used on them. He and Travis take off
It was stupid, but rather funny in places with a lot of action and not-very-bloody violence.
