Description:Lou Gehrig plays himself in this low-grade western. He decides to quit baseball and take up ranching with his sister. When he arrives, he discovers that a gang of local thugs have set up a "protective agency" that intimidates the local ranchers into dealing with them or suffer the consequences. Lou and singing cowboy lawyer Larry Kimball stand up to the gang and help defeat it. Lou gets a raise and goes back to playing baseball.

Review - Rawhide

Every bit as hokey and ridiculous as you'd expect it to be. The lawyer, played by Smith Ballew, is the real hero of the story. Gehrig pretty much just wanders around and smiles. There's a bar fight scene in which he knocks out the enemy by throwing pool balls at them, and another in which he stops his sister from signing with the bad guys by hitting a baseball through an upstairs window. Gehrig couldn't act, but he looked to be having a good time.
