| Description: | Penelope (Christina Ricci) was born with a pig nose as a result of a curse on her wealthy family. To break the curse, she has to find "one of her own kind to love her. A steady stream of eligible men are repulsed and run away. Max (James McAvoy) seems to be different. He stays when all others run, but he refuses to marry Penelope. She has been shut up in her parents' house all her life. She breaks away and is discovered and soon becomes a celebrity. One rich guy, at the urging of his parents, agrees to marry her to break the curse but is secretly repulsed. but then Penelope refuses him — she has learned to love herself as she is. This fact breaks the curse. She seeks out Max (who, it turns out, loved her but wasn't wealthy and didn't think he could break the curse) and they end up together. |
