| Description: | Reserve officer John Harkness (Gary Cooper) is given command of an experimental sub chaser powered by steam. His crew is also made up entirely of reserves. The ship (called the Teakettle) is a flop that keeps breaking down at sea and requiring a tow. Harkness' wife Ellie (Jane Greer) is the secretary for the port commander and helps out when she can. The admiral shows up for a test cruise and decides the ship won't work, but that the captain and crew do well. The steam engine is replaced by a conventional engine. This is the film debut of Charles Bronson and Lee Marvin and also stars Eddie Albert and Jack Webb. |
