When the police come to investigate, the protagonist believes he (and they) can hear the old man's heart beating from beneath the floor where he buried him, and he confesses.

Review - Tell-Tale Heart, The

The animation, soundtrack and narration all do a good job of setting the mood. The technique of only lighting up a small part of a scene — an eye, a silhouette, the moon — adds to the suspense.
