As in the book, I felt the attempt to connect the experiences of the astronauts with the test pilots fell short. The story of Chuck Yeager was interesting, but felt like a separate movie. The actors did a pretty good job, but one scene near the end, where the astronauts all stared at each other when they realized how popular they'd become, was creepy.
