Description:Jim Stark (James Dean) is a troubled young man who is looking for strength from his wimpy father (Jim Backus). He moves to a new school and immediately gets in a fight with the head of the local tough guys. He gets challenged to play chicken in which they see who can drive a stolen car closest to a cliff edge before jumping out. Jim jumps, but the other boy dies. The other boy's girl, Judy (Natalie Wood) and Jim begin hanging out. Judy has her own issues — she's being rejected by her father because he's attracted to her. Jim and Judy run off to a deserted mansion where they are met by John (Sal Mineo), a boy whose parents have abandoned him to the care of a maid. Jim and Judy go off exploring together. John is found by the tough guys looking to get back at Jim for their friend's death. John shoots one of them with his mother's gun, then runs to an observatory where he is shot by the police.

Review - Rebel Without a Cause

I get it. Poor kids with parent issues. All they want is somebody to love them and stick up for them, but the evil parents won't do it. This movie pretty much slaps you in the face with it over and over. James Dean does is usual over-acting to the point where you often wonder if there's something physically wrong with him. Natalie Wood is lovely and comes across as the most sympathetic character.
