Description:H.G. Wells (Malcolm McDowell) finds out that his friend Stevenson (David Warner) is Jack the Ripper. But before Wells can stop him, Stevenson takes off in Wells' time machine to 1979 San Francisco. Wells follows. He meets Amy Robbins (Mary Steenburgen) and they hit it off. Stevenson doesn't have the key to the time machine that will let him leave 1979, so he grabs Amy and threatens to kill her. Wells gives him the key. Stevenson climbs in the machine and Wells does't something or other that sends Stevenson into oblivion. He and Amy go back to 1893 together.

Review - Time After Time

The movie gets pretty good ratings, but it's slow moving and poorly written. McDowell, in particular, plays his roll like he's coming out of anesthesia and isn't sure of any of his lines. Steenburgen tries, but she isn't really given anything to do.
