Description:Allen Bauer (Tom Hanks) owns a produce supply company in NYC with his brother Freddie (John Candy). He goes to Cape Cod where he almost drowns but is saved by a naked woman (Daryl Hannah). She shows up in New York looking for Allen and he falls in love with her. He asks her to marry him and she says yes. But then a scientist (Eugene Levy) tracks her down and gets her wet. She turns into a mermaid and is captured for testing. Allen rescues her and takes her to the ocean. She can't stay with him because people know what she is, so he jumps in the water and goes with her — apparently her presence enables him to breathe under water.

Review - Splash

Contains a couple mildly amusing lines but overall just silly. The internal logic breaks down — she can grow legs or a tail pretty much any time she wants, but suddenly she has to go back to the ocean and never see Allen again. And if he goes with her he can never return to New York? Why couldn't they meet up every weekend at some secluded beach? It makes no sense. And if he is with her under water and she has a tail and he's human, how can they "be together"?
