Description:Tom Jeffers (Joel McCrea) and Gerry (Claudeete Colbert) are married, but not making a very good go of it. Tom can't get the money to build the airport he's designed. Gerry can't cook or sew or do any wifely things. They're broke and about to lose their apartment. Gerry comes up with the scheme to get a divorce in Palm Springs and marry a rich man so she can support Tom and give him the money for his airport. She takes off on a train where she meets J.D. Hackensacker III (Rudy Vallee), the richest man in the world. He falls for Gerry and buys her all sorts of things. He decides to propose and give Tom the money for the airport, but Gerry and Tom (who has followed her to Palm Springs) decide that they love each other too much to get divorced, even though it will cost them millions.

Review - Palm Beach Story, The

Not to be taken seriously, so I didn't Colbert and Vallee were pretty funny together. McCrea was just dull. The plot was nonsensical and the dialogue was rapid-fire, but it didn't all add up to much.
