Description:Neurotic invalid Leona Stevenson (Barbara Stanwyck) makes a phone call to track down her husband Henry (Burt Lancaster). She's accidentally patched into another call and hears two men discussing a murder planned for later that night. Leona spends several hours trying to get help, to find Henry, and to figure out what's going on. Henry works for a pharmaceutical company owned by Leona's father. He hates his job, but whenever he tries to get away, Leona fakes a heart attack. Finally he works out a scheme with a chemist at the company to steal product and sell it to a black marketeer. After a while, he goes into business for himself. The mobster finds him and demands money that Henry can only raise via Leona's insurance policy. The phone call she overheard was plotting her own murder. Henry has a change of heart and tries to get Leona to leave the apartment, but he's too late.

Review - Sorry, Wrong Number

Overblown melodrama played to such excess by Stanwyck that I felt no sympathy for her whatever and just wanted all her screaming to stop. Lancaster wasn't terrible as the cowardly husband, henpecked and easily pushed around by his wife and by mobsters.
