Reviews for The Wolverine
Review - Wolverine, The
Pretty much just a mess of computerized samurai fight scenes and shots of Hugh Jackman with his shirt off.

| Description: | Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) is asked to come to Japan to say farewell to Yashida, a kind soldier he saved from death at Nagasaki during WWII. He arrives in time for the man's supposed funeral, which is interrupted by the kidnapping of Yashida's granddaughter Mariko (Tao Okamoto). Wolverine, despite losing his healing powers, follows and rescues her. They retreat to a lonely cabin, but are soon found out. It all gets pretty complicated from this point on. At first it appears that it's Mariko's father that is out to kill her because she inherited her grandfather's wealth. And then a childhood friend is somehow involved. Each of these men, and their armies, are defeated by Wolverine. By this time, he's figured out that he's lost the ability to heal because Yashida's doctor, Viper, infected him with a droid. Wolverine removes the droid, but then Mariko has been kidnapped again. Wolverine follows and fights off the Silver Samurai, which turns out to be the supposedly-dead Yashida, who cooked the whole thing up to gain Wolverine's healing power. By the end of the movie, pretty much everybody in Japan is dead except Wolvering and Mariko. I never even got around to mentioning Yukio, a mutant who was raised with Mariko and pops in and out helping Wolverine here and there. |
