Review - Tension
Typical noir drama, but fun to watch. I wasn't quite sure why Mary fell for Warren, who seemed pretty dull, but let's pretend she had a reason.

| Description: | Warren Quimby (Richard Basehart) is willing to do anything for his wife Claire (Audrey Totter), but she's a tramp and leaves him for the wealthy Barney Deager. When Warren goes to Barney's house to try to win his wife back, Barney beats him up. Warren decides to kill Barney. He takes on a new identity and spends his weekends building a backstory for it. Along the way, he meets Mary Chanler (Cyd Charisse) and falls in love with her. One night, he goes to Barney's house to kill him. But at the last minute, he realizes Claire isn't worth fighting for and leaves. Barney is found murdered, and police Lt. Collier Bonnabel (Barry Sullivan) investigates. He finds out about Warren's new identity, but something doesn't make sense. He pretends to seduce Claire and convinces her that Warren would be put in prison and she would be free to run away with him (Bonnabel). Claire falls for it and brings the murder weapon to Warren's apartment to plant it. Bonnabel catches her and arrests her. Warren is free to be with Mary. |
