Description:Awkward, neurotic film buff/critic Allan (Woody Allen) struggled to find a date after his wife leaves him. Friends Dick and Linda (Diane Keaton) attempt to console him and to set him up with another woman. Allan has one disaster after another. He wants to be like Humphrey Bogart, and imagines Bogart in the background, advising him. Dick is always busy with work, so Allan and Linda spend a lot of time together. She's as neurotic and lonely as he is, and they end up having a fling. Both feel guilty and rush, separately, to the airport to find Dick before he gets on a plane. On the runway, Allan nobly advises Linda that she belongs with Dick and then tells Dick a story to absolve Linda of all blame. As the couple walk toward the plane, Allan, although he doesn't get the girl, is happy that he acted like Bogart would.

Review - Play It Again, Sam

It would have worked better with another actor or maybe even if Allan acted less like a total train wreck. A little clumsiness and neurosis would have been fine, but his character here was so wimpy, so clumsy, so pathetic that I couldn't possibly root for him.
