Stupid plot, complete with a man in a gorilla suit, but Hayward and Mitchum give their usual good performances.

| Description: | Ellen (Susan Hayward) is a nurse who is determined to go to central Africa because her dead husband wanted to go there, and she feels guilty for saying no. She meets two white hunters, Lonni (Robert Mitchum) and Huysman (Walter Slezak). Lonni just wants to get out of Africa, but he allows Huysman to talk him into escorting Ellen as an excuse to look for gold. Naturally, Ellen and Lonni don't like each other much to begin with but soon fall in love. They witness a chief's son get mauled in an attempt to kill a lion. The chief makes it pretty obvious that, if his son dies, the white people are doomed. In the middle of all this Huysman shows up, determined to grab the opportunity to steal the native's gold. Lonni shoots it out with him and kills him, then races back to the chief's hut just as Ellen keels over from exhaustion and the chief's son revives. |
