Description:June (Jane Fonda) goes to Custer College to find a husband—specifically star basketball player Ray (Anthony Perkins). They fall in love and get engaged, but don't have enough money to get married. Ray is offered money to throw the big game against a Russian team. To avoid throwing the game, he deliberately flunks a test in his ethics class, thinking he can't throw if he doesn't play. But the gamblers think he flunked to lose the game and give him more money. He goes to the ethics professor (Ray Walston) and confesses all, but the professor refuses to give him another chance until Ray passes an oral exam—which he does barely in time to win the game. The professor secretly lets June have the money so she and Ray can get married.

Review - Tall Story

There was a cute story in here somewhere, but this wasn't it. The oral exam in the locker room while the game was going on in the background was pointless since any intelligent viewer knew how it would end. Perkins couldn't shoot a basket if his life depended on it, and his facial expressions that were intended to convey his love for June only looked like he was overdosing on some powerful narcotic. The movie, which began with a lot of promise, ended with a thud.
