Review - Please Believe Me
There was a decent story in here somewhere, but this wasn't it. Kerr was pleasant in her role, but otherwise it was just silly.

| Description: | English girl Alison Kirbe (Deborah Kerr) befriends a soldier from Texas during the war, and he leaves her his ranch in his will. News gets out, and on the boat to America, she's pursued by Terence (Robert Walker), a con man who wants to marry her for her money, and by Jeremy (Peter Lawford) a millionaire who finds her attractive. Jeremy's lawyer, Matthew (Mark Stevens)—along to keep Jeremy out of trouble with women—thinks Alison is running a scam, especially after he finds out the truth about the ranch. When they get to the U.S., and all is revealed, both Terence and Jeremy (who have fallen in love with her for real) propose, but she opts for Matthew, whom she's liked best all along. |
