| Description: | Abraham (Alan Arkin), a Puerto Rican widower, tries to raise his two young sons in Harlem while holding down three jobs. He sees the filth of the city and the trouble the boys get into and hatches a plan to get them away from the life. They go to Florida, he coaches to boys about Cuba, then he sends them out in a small boat. They're discovered three days later, seriously dehydrated, but otherwise OK. They're heralded as heroes, and soon people offer to adopt them. But Abraham can't stay away and the truth comes out. He still wants them to be adopted, but when he realizes how much his sons love him, he takes them home. |
