Description:Quentin Durward (Robert Taylor) is sent to France by his Scottish uncle to check out Isabelle (Kay Kendall), whom the uncle wants to marry. The uncle is old, and Isabelle wants no part of the marriage, but her ward the Duke of Burgundy insists for political reasons. Isabelle flees to the castle of Louis XI (Robert Morley), but the king determines to use her as a pawn in French politics. She sends Isabelle off into the country, guided only by Durward, who has signed on in the king's service. The king intends Isabelle to be kidnapped, which will start a war between his chief rivals, but Durward fights off all the bad guys and kills one of the rivals. The king and Burgundy agree to allow Isabelle to marry whom she will, and she picks Durward.

Review - Quentin Durward

There may have been more to the plot, but does it matter? Taylor was a little dull as Durward, although Kendall and all the pomp of old historical romances kept things flowing.
