Description:Lt. Bill Gordon (William Powell) is a code expert who wants to go to Europe to fight in WWI. Days before he leaves, he meets Joel (Rosalind Russell), niece of the Secretary of War, who quickly falls in love with him. Soon, Bill finds himself working in the code department in Washington instead of overseas where he wants to be. He's given the task of deciphering German codes and finding German agents who are stealing ship locations. While Joel gets jealous and interrupts at the most inopportune moments, Bill tries to get information out of Olivia (Binnie Barnes), whom he knows is a spy. The Germans, desperate to break an American code, kidnap Joel and Bill and threaten to kill them if he doesn't give them the code. He takes the chance and sends his location in Washington to his associates, who arrive in time to save him and Joel and arrest the Germans. He marries Joel before leaving for Europe — only she intervenes once again ...

Review - Rendezvous

Powell was good as a sort-0f WWI James Bond, always playing it close to the vest and always one step ahead of the bad guys. Russel's character was actually pretty annoying, and it wasn't at all clear why Bill liked her.
