Description:Bob Peters (Dane Clark) escapes from prison and ends up in a mining camp run by tyrannical Boss Kruger (Raymond Massey). Kruger has assembled a work crew made up of fugitives from justice, and there's no way for them to escape. Judith (Ruth Roman), also on the lam, is injured in a stage crash and ends up in the camp. Also there is Aubrey (Robert Douglas) who reveals that he is the lawyer for Kruger's nephew, from whom he stole the mine. There's tension and fights and so forth. Bob and Judith decide to flee but soon find out Kruger has salted their water. By the time they get back, Kruger's nephew has arrived with his gang and every kills everyone. Well, almost everyone. Aubrey is injured. Kruger is still alive and kicking, but Bob manages to off him. Bob and Judith agree to take Aubrey to town to a doctor even though it means they'll have to finish their (apparently one-year) prison sentences.

Review - Barricade

Not really anyone to root for. Roman was lovely but had no other reason to appear in the plot. (Except, I guess, that there's a similar character in Jack London's The Sea Wolf from which this story is adapted. Massey had fun playing the tyrant, but his character made no sense—especially how he refused to kill his enemies until the plot was done with them. Clark, as the closest thing to a hero, pretty much spent the entire movie getting beat up.
