Description:Pete Kelly (Jack Webb) leads a band in a nightclub. Gangster McCarg (Edmond O'Brien) informs him that he'll be taking 25% of the take. Kelly caves and goes along. He's chased by society dame Ivy (Janet Leigh) but doesn't think himself good enough for her. One of Kelly's band members gets in a brawl with McCarg and is killed, but Kelly still doesn't do anything. Then McCarg forces Kelly to take on Rose (Peggy Lee) a drunk singer. When Rose gets too drunk, McCarg beats her and puts her in an asylum. Kelly finally decides to fix things. He gets a member of McCarg's gang to tell him where incriminating papers are. He goes to get them, but it cornered. McCarg and one of his men is killed. Kelly goes back to the club and to Ivy.

Review - Pete Kelly's Blues

This would have been a much better movie with anyone other than Jack Webb as the lead. He has the exact same facial expression whether he's scared, angry, jiving, dancing, or kissing Janet Leigh.
