Description:Printer John Hodges (Monty Woolley) is fired from his job at Acme Printing on his 65th birthday. He sees the notice came from Consolidated Motors, the parent company of Acme. When he realizes that nobody knows who runs Consolidated, he decides to impersonate the president, Harold Cleveland. He planned for the deception to only last as long as it took for him to get his job back, but Acme president McKinley has other plans. He has Hodges (as Cleveland) make a speech at the chamber of commerce. Impromptu, Hodges speaks about the dignity of the worker and the importance of experience. His speech is a huge hit and makes the front page of the paper. McKinley also takes Hodges out to dinner with his wife Lucille (Constance Bennett). When Hodges is courteous and complimentary, and even dances with her, Lucille decides she's in love and wants a divorce. Meanwhile. Cleveland finds out about his impersonator. He realizes that speech has brought the company all sorts of positive p.r. and caused the company stocks to rise. Hodges' granddaughter (Jean Peters) Alices fiance, Joe recognizes Hodges and mentions the deception to a co-worker who, thinking it will get him a promotion, tells McKinley. Cleveland decides to visit Hodges, and when all is done, Hodges has his old job back as long as he wants it. McKinley and Lucille realize they love each other after all, and Joe gets a promotion and marries Alice.

Review - As Young as You Feel

Probably more characters than necessary. Thelma Ritter plays Hodges' daughter-in- law who can't stop telling people she used to be a singer. Marilyn Monroe has a smallish part as McKinley's secretary. I'm not sure what that added to the story. Woolley was great as a healthy, vigorous 65-year-old guy who wasn't ready to be put out to pasture. I sympathize.
