Review - These Glamour Girls
Obviously a satire on society in the 1930's disguised as a comedy/drama. None of the characters was very deep or very interesting.

| Description: | It's party weekend at a posh college and all the society girls are trying to get dates with the boys from the best families. Philip Griswald (Lew Ayres) gets drunk the weekend before and invites taxi dancer Jane Thomas (Lana Turner) for the weekend and then is surprised when she shows up. He's already got a fiancée, Carol, but she's really in love with Joe (Richard Carlson), who has to work his way through college. Jane quickly realizes she doesn't fit in, but when Philip decides to be decent and show her a good time after all, she falls for him. Things fall apart when the snotty Daphne announces Philip and Carol's engagement. And then Philip's father is indicted for fraud. Jane goes back to taxi dancing, but Philip has learned his lesson and goes to see her. Carol ends up with Joe. There's another story line about Betty (Marsha Hunt) who's too old for college boys but keeps hanging around. She gets one of them to sleep with her and agree to marry her, but when he backs out, she commits suicide by getting hit by a train. |
