Description:Three soldiers, just mustered out of the Army, Buck (Randolph Scott), John (James Garner), and Wilbur (Gordon Jones) head to a new community where Buck's brother lives. They arrive just as Indians attack and kill the brother, who died because the ammunition in his gun was defective. The soldiers head to the town of Medicine Bend to find the man who sold the bad bullets. On the way, they are robbed and have to borrow clothes from a Mennonite-type group of settlers. In Medicine Bend, the find out the entire town is owned and controlled by the corrupt Clark (James Craig). The pretend to be brethren as they get jobs and investigate, learning that all the settlers who pass through have been robbed. John falls for Nell (Dani Crayne), who works for Clark but is soon on the side of the soldiers. Buck spends his nights "stealing" Clark's money and good to give back to those it was stolen from. In time, Clark figures out the three soldiers are responsible and orders them hung. Buck gets away with help from Priscilla (Angie Dickinson) and gets a group of the Brethren to help the other two escape. Buck then confronts Clark and kills him. The three head back to the settlement where Buck's brother lived, and Priscilla and Nell go along. Wilbur decides to join the Brethren for real.

Review - Shoot-Out at Medicine Bend

A lot going on, much of it not terribly believable, but played somewhat tongue-in-cheek. It could have been a little shorter — I got a little bored waiting for the inevitable ending.
