He investigates with the help of Dr. Watson (Nigel Bruce). In the end he discovers that an attractive woman (Hillary Brooke) is luring wealthy men to her apartment, then hypnotizing them so that they lose track of several hours of time. Meanwhile, an accomplice of Professor Moriarty (Henry Daniel) kills a woman, cuts off a finger, and plants it on the hypnotized man. Moriarty then blackmails the man into giving him all his money. Holmes figures this out, allows himself to be lured by the woman, and pretends to be hypnotized when the police arrive with Watson and arrest Moriarty, the woman, and their cronies. Moriarty attempts to escape and falls to his death.

Review - Woman in Green, The

Well enough made, I suppose, and Rathbone is suitably mysterious as Holmes. Bruce is supposed to provide a little comic relief, but it doesn't really work. My chief issue is that I knew exactly what was going to happen at almost every step of the movie so there was really no mystery.
