Review - Paperback Hero
Certainly no surprises, but the story was amusing and the outback setting was interesting.

| Description: | Australian long-distance trucker Jack Willis (Hugh Jackman) writes a romance novel in his spare time and has it accepted by a publisher. But out of embarrassment, he uses the name of Ruby Vale (Claudia Karvan), crop-duster pilot, owner of a back country cafe, and fiancée of Jack's best friend Hamish. When the publisher, Ziggy (Angie Milliken) comes to the cafe to arrange a promotional tour for the book, Jack tells Ruby what he did and asks her to pretend to be the author. He takes her to Sydney, where she meets with the executives from the publisher and begins her promotional tour. Ziggy figures out that Jack really wrote the book. Things get more complicated when Jack and Rugy realize they love each other. Hamish finds out what's going on and goes to the city to get Ruby. She decides she can't fake it anymore and goes home with him. Jack decides to be honest and goes on TV to admit that he wrote the book. When Hamsih sees Ruby watching Jack on the TV, he realizes he's lost her. He moves away to take a job. Jack comes back, and he and Ruby get together. |
